Holand Sound Guide to Mix list

The mix will be done in ProTools HD. So if the production are done in different DAW´s and platforms (Logic, Cubase, Nuendo etc) whe need consolidated files wich You must guarantee have the same starting point. We advice You to read 1, 3, 5, 6,  7,  8, 9, and 13!

Here are some guidelines for preparing ProTools session to mix!

1. 1.Please label your hard drives or session folder with the artist, record company, and anything else you think is helpful like sample rate, bit depth and TC rate
   

2. 2.Please check the locations of your audio files. Best thing to do is to make a session copy (with audio files) to the disk or folder that I am going to use. And to be shure try opening that session and se if all the audio files are there
   

3. 3.Please check all your edits
   

4. 4.Please do not consolidate your edits. If you must then please keep the unconsolidated track in the playlist (marked as master track, unconsolidated)
   

5. 5.Don´t´assume we have the same plug-ins as you. If the plug-in you are using is apart of the sound then print it and leave an un-effected version in the playlist (well marked as original before plug-in print)
   

6. 6.Installing your cracked plug-ins is nothing we like to do
   

7. 7.A stereo track counts as two tracks, not one
   

8. 8.Keeping tracks in logical order can makes things run smoother and faster. Keep the drums together, percussion, bass, guitars, vocals, keyboards, strings etc.
   

9. 9.Notes about the session are always helpful (BPM, key etc)
   

10. 10.Most of the time I like o do my own fader rides instead of using the automation in ProTools (therefor read 11 and 12)
    

11. 11.Using volume automation to mute items can be missed. If you like something muted, mute the region.
    

12. 12.If there is panning automation that is important, please leave a note in the comments column.
    

13. 13.Yes, rough mixes do tend to be everybody´s favorite so please include the last rough in the session or as atachment to the session.
